Production process of wire and cable

How to produce wire and cable?

Usually divided into the following 4 parts.

1.Conductor drawing
2.Annealing
3.Twisting and Stranding
4.Extrusion

1.Conductor drawing

At room temperature ,the 8mm copper and aluminum rods are passed through one or several holes of the drawing die by a wire drawing machine,so that the cross section is reduction,the lenght is increased,And the strength is improved.

2.Annealing

During the drawing process, we apply tremendous pressure on metal rod to form a thinner wire. Thus, the wire we get is extremely brittle and can easily be fractured if flexed. The finished wire must be flexible, so in this step we’re going to soften, or to anneal the wire.

3.Twisting and stranding

In order to improve the flexibility and integrity of wires and cables, two or more single wires are intertwined in a specified direction, which is called twisting

4.Extrusion

The wire, now soft and flexible, is passed through an extruder, where the coating of plastic or other insulating material is applied.
